Rise with {Green} Liquid Sunshine In Your Breakfast

As soon as I saunter off my bed, I am all ready to enjoy a duo of delicious treats—my glorious liquid sunshine and the one offered by dear Mother Nature outside my window—if weather permits.

Thinking back, I’m somewhat surprised that I’ve never missed one day of drinking my green kale or some sort of leafy-greens-fruity smoothie blended every single morning, for the last four plus years now. I’m proud to have such dedication plus daily self-love practice altogether in one.

To boost daily fiber, proteins and nutrients intake, my greens smoothie  are definitely not without nutrient-dense add-on’s like ground flax seeds, chia seeds and wheat grass powder (especially when I travel, I make sure that I bring them in little packets in my purse).

If I’m at home, however, no matter how I feel when I wake up and what the weather is like outside, I’m always consistent in having my green kale smoothie with all the ingredients stocked and available. So here is what you’ll need to start as your base green kale (my liquid gold sunshine) smoothie ingredients:

Basic Green Kale Smoothie:

  • 1/2 of a medium size banana (frozen and chopped)
  • 1/3 Cup orange juice
  • 1/4 Cup unsweetened almond mik
  • 1 Tbsp flax seeds (to be grounded before blending in the smoothie)
  • 1 Tsp chia seeds
  • 2 Cups of washed organic kale leaves and/or swiss chard leaves (stemmed removed), any dark leafy greens you like will work
  • 1/4 Cup water (more or less depending on the consistency of your preference)
  • 1/2 Cup ice cubes

 

Tropical Pina Colada Green Kale Smoothie:

  • Start by adding all the ingredients from the Base Green Kale Smoothie above
  • 1 Tbsp shredded dried coconut meat (unsweentened)
  • 1/3 Cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • extra sprinkles of shredded dried coconut meat for garnish later shredded coconut (unsweentened)
  • Optional: 1 tsp coconut-flavored syrup (I used Torani’s sugar-free coconut syrup) or coconut extract if you’d like more coconut flavor

 

Chocolate Cherry Bomb Green Kale Smoothie:

  • Start by adding all the ingredients from the Base Green Kale Smoothie above
  • 6-8 pitted frozen dark cherries
  • 1 Tbsp raw cacao powder
  • Optional: roasted cacao nibs as garnish

 

Instructions:

  • Add all the ingredients into your blender.
  • Start blending at the lowest speed first, then increase gradually in a few seconds interval between until it’s blended completely smooth.
  • Pour to a 16 oz glass or mason jar.
  • Chug or enjoy with a straw

Like the sun rising from the eastern horizon each day, I never miss a beat. Most of the days I like to keep it simple with the base recipe. Other times I feel like fancy it up with different flavor profiles, like pina colada and chocolate cherry bomb flavors in the summer now, or pumpkin pie in the fall season. Mmm.
